Canvas

Canvas has become the most common support medium for oil painting, replacing wooden panels.  Canvas is usually stretched across a wooden frame called a stretcher, and may be coated with gesso before it is to be used; this is to prevent oil paint from coming into direct contact with the canvas fibers, which will eventually cause the canvas to decay.

Fredrix® was founded in 1868 by E. H. Stretch Canvas

Canvas is an extremely heavy-duty plain-woven fabric used for making sails, tents, marquees, backpacks, and other functions where sturdiness is required.  It is also popularly used as a painting surface, typically stretched, and on fashion handbags and shoes.

 

Canvas Panel

Canvas Panels are great for students.  The surface texture provides a very definite paint-gripping "tooth" with minimum paint absorption, a perfect support for painting in all media.  The sides are completely turned under and glued to prevent fraying and separation.  The entire area of canvas is firmly glued to the board.  The sizing is acid free.

 

Rolled Canvas

It is available in a variety of styles and sizes to meet your artistic needs.  All canvas is primed in the USA which allows us to have complete control over the priming process.  How the paint reacts to the artist canvas surface is what really matters.

 

Rounds

Round Stretched Canvas is made of medium weight, acrylic primed canvas stretched on round shaped frames.  Suitable for acrylic, oil and mixed media.

 

Ovals

Oval Stretched Canvas is made of medium weight, acrylic primed canvas stretched on oval shaped frames.  Suitable for acrylic, oil and mixed media.

 

Convexo

Convexo Canvas is made of 100% medium texture duck acrylic primed.  Popular for fine arts paintings or crafts. Good for acrylics, oils and mixed media.

 

Floor Cloth

Floor Cloth Canvas is ideal for stenciling and decorative painting.  It's made of heavy 12 oz cotton duck, double-primed on one side, and single-primed on the other side, with white acrylic primer. It has acid-free sizing.
